What is blessing place?

As interpreted in “Ci Hai”: “It is the place where the Gods of Taoism live. There are 72 blessing places, please refer to ‘Yunjiqiqian’”. The place where many Gods of Taoism gathered is called cave paradise, and the place where a God ever lived is called blessing place. “Cave paradise” means there are some caves where can reach the heaven. Blessing place means happy and livable place where are blessed by the gods and can be immortals by practices. It was introduced that there are ten major cave paradises, 36 small cave paradises and 72 blessing places.

“The 18th blessing place”- Suxianling

According to the legend, in the Western Han Dynasty, a woman who was washing clothes in the bank of Chenjiang river was pregnant after swallowing a colorful duckweed. She was expelled by her family and gave birth to a boy in White Deer Cave of Maling Mountain. She named the boy as Su Dan. Su Dan who was fed by white deer was very clever and nice to his mother. He was taught the medicine skills by an unusual person. Because of his kind behaviors to cure people suffered from diseases, Su Dan became an immortal finally. Maling Mountain was then renamed as Suxianling and became famous nationwide.

According to the “Palace Map”, Maling Mountain where Su Dan once lived was listed as the 21st blessing place among the 72 ones.

In the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, Du Guangting- a famous expert of Taoism composed a book of “famous mountains of cave paradise and blessing place”. Some places which became not so famous were deducted from the list, while some more famous places as Wudang were added there. Maling Mountain was ranked 19th place.

“Collection of caves” which was authored by Li Sicong of Northern Song Dynasty adjusted the list, Suxianling was ranked the 18th place among all 72 blessing places of Taoism. Afterward, 4 emperors of Song Dynasty ennobled Su Dan. From then on, Suxianling was kept as the 18th blessing place of China. In Ming Dynasty, Xu Xiake- the famous tourist and geographer of China once traveled to Chenzhou city and saw the landmark written with “the 18th blessing place of China” there. On this point, we can learn that Chenzhou city was known as “the 18th blessing place of China” nationwide. Chenzhou city is with profound blessing culture history.

Fuquan Villa ( Rucheng Reshui hot spring) is located in Reshui town of Rucheng county where is the junction place of Hunan, Guangdong and Jiangxi province. Once exited from Wenying exit of Xiarong expressway, you just need to drive 10kms along Rewen second grade highway and can arrive there. Fuquan Villa (Rucheng Reshui hot spring) was called Lingquan and “Tanghe” in ancient China. In 759AD (Tang Dynasty), the hot spring was enrolled into national geography. According to geology, Rucheng Reshui hot spring was formed by neotectonics happened in 80million years ago. Currently, its daily volume is more than 10,000tons. Generally speaking, the temperature is 91.5℃, but the highest level can reach 98℃. It is the natural hot spring with “highest temperature, largest volume, best quality, widest area, and rare feature” in south China. The water of Rucheng Reshui hot spring is transparent and it is full of more than 30 kinds of elements which are healthy for people. Radon element which can be used as an assistant agent in treating of genital system if it’s content is 30IMA. According to the on-site investigation carried out by the staffs of UNESCO, the contents of Radon in Rucheng Reshui hot spring is up to 145IMA which is helpful for treating some diseases of genital system.
